Institution: Co-operative for the Re-education and Support of Exceptional Children of Portimão

Beneficiaries: CRACEP was created in 1975 thanks to the initiative of a group of parents supported by Portimão City Council and the local Rotary Club. For some time it functioned with only one Social Response - the Educational Centre. Through a protocol with I.E.F.P. - Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional, in 1983, the construction of the building that we have today, in Coca Maravilhas, began. In 1991 we started vocational training for young people with disabilities, with the support of the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training. At the same time we realised that the children we had welcomed in 1975 had grown and had other needs, and consequently another type of response. So, in 1995 the Centre for Occupational Activities was created and later the Residential Home, inaugurated in 2001.
Mission: Support to improve lighting conditions in CRACEP premises.

This House was created with the intention of being a Residential Structure for Elderly People, former employees of Santa Maria Hospital, allowing its residents to grow old next to those with whom they lived and worked. We have a Day Centre, open to the whole community, as well as medical, nursing and physiotherapy care. We also have the possibility of providing Special Care (temporary hospitalization) to those who need it for convalescence, physiotherapy or rest/vacation of the caregiver.
